Andrew Plotkin
Passionate about sharing the transformative power of neurofeedback, Andrew’s journey of resilience, overcoming adversity, and experience as a professional athlete aims to inspire and support others who may be facing similar challenges, empowering them to unlock their potential and live their best lives both in sports and beyond.
Recovering from a brain hemorrhage at age 11 and again at 18, Andrew understands first-hand the battles of migraines, short-term memory loss, and subtle speech impairments. But that didn’t stop him from playing professional baseball, eventually retiring from the sport in 2013.
Once he discovered the transformative power of neurofeedback in 2014, this cutting-edge technology became a turning point in his life. After Andrew experienced how neurofeedback significantly improved his cognitive function and overall well-being, he knew he wanted to share this with the world.
Now a competitive beach volleyball player, most days you can find him training and working out, striving to dominate the sand, and actively competing in tournaments on weekends.
“For me, sports & competition is a way of life. I love to push myself physically but learning to master the mental side of the game is always the hardest part of doing your best.”
Andrew’s Story
A San Diego native, Andrew grew up as a devoted fan of the Padres and Chargers, reflecting his deep-rooted love for his hometown teams. Throughout his life, baseball has been his passion, and he dedicated himself to the sport from a young age. His talent and hard work earned him a scholarship to Northwestern State Louisiana, where he played for their D1 baseball program. Following his college career, Andrew spent a couple of years playing in an independent league, further fueling his love for the game.
Despite the joy baseball brought him, Andrew also faced significant challenges and injuries. At the age of 11, he experienced a life-altering incident when he was struck by a line drive during batting practice, resulting in a severe brain injury. The incident led to a month-long hospital stay and brain surgery to alleviate the pressure from a subdural hematoma. Another major concussion at 18, just after learning he made the team at LMU, forced him to use a cane for several weeks and abruptly ended his time with the team.
Throughout the years following his first injury, Andrew battled migraines, short-term memory loss, and a subtle speech impairment. However, at the age of 27, he discovered the transformative power of neurofeedback. This cutting-edge technology became a turning point in his life, significantly improving his overall well-being and helping him regain his cognitive function.
In addition to baseball, Andrew enjoys participating in various sports such as basketball, ultimate frisbee, racquetball, ping pong, and his latest obsession, beach volleyball.
